[Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
Byond account and character name: Gouty | Carlos Danger
Admin: Optimumtact
Time and Server incident occurred: 2018-05-11 09:22:08 Basil
ROUND ID HERE: 87774
Detailed summary:
AFAIK it was oranges but CitrusGender, Alexch2, STP and RandolfTheMeh were on at the same time, although things only started happening when oranges logged in.
First had a fake "you have been banned by RandolfTheMeh" message.
Shortly after everything is made to spin
Then 26 people in OOC are made to say "Oranges is the best admin", and other admins are made to appear to be saying things (e.g. OOC: Citrusgender: I love it when rustled pees on my face) Optimumtact/(Platos Syrup) executed SDQL query: "call client.ooc(''' I love it when rustled pees on my face ''') on /mob/living where ckey == '''citrusgender'''".
So far so meme, nothing too heinous.
Then highlander is pressed while the round is going effectively ending the round. (Everyone that was antag got a token though)

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
Extended round
admins are messing with rods
I assumed it was an event round and pressed some buttons.
If that was in error then I apologise.
edit: the SDQL was showing a admin candidate how it works

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
so uh, just some background: This was while I was showing Randolf how to use the shuttle manipulator by destroying and respawning the shuttle on centcomm during candidacy training. My other candidates can back me up here. The shuttle was going to be reset afterwards.oranges wrote:Extended round

Everything that OP listed was done by oranges.

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
Fake randolf ban message: Just memeing, the key here is moderation. I did it every couple weeks to a month when I was adminned. Not worth complaining about.
Everything spinning: EXTREMELY POOR TASTE DEADMIN NOW. Seriously though like why. If you wanna show the candidate that let him try it on a private server.
The OOC stuff is kinda ridiculous. I vaguely remember kevinz getting a ban for doing that SDQL query.

What's an event round and why does it allow you to highlander

I think the main thing is keeping an in-universe reason for shit happening in game. You can fluff pretty much anything with almost no effort, but we should still show some basic respect to the roleplay aspect of the game the same way we expect players to.

Admins used to fake ooc messages from me all the time. There's no punishment for it.BeeSting12 wrote:

Just to bring something up here in this round oranges spun the screen multiple times so that isn't new behavior. He also stepped down shortly afterwards though.

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
I'm fine with the fake OOC messages. I'm talking about making tons of people say something at once which is what im assuming happened based on what gouty said. theres easier ways to demonstrate sdql especially for a coder such as orangesiamgoofball wrote:Admins used to fake ooc messages from me all the time. Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
well arm it's when admins take control of a round, usually because it's extended and they press buttons and present a story.Armhulen wrote:What's an event round and why does it allow you to highlander

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
I've noticed a tendency for some of the newer admins to see that other admins are doing things in a round and immediately go ham wild, spamming the meme buttons instantly

There is a lot of very bizarre nonsense being talked on this forum. I shall now remain silent and logoff until my points are vindicated.

honestly if you can't use highlander without a complaint why do we not have a better version/it removed by now

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
I think the worst thing here tbh is the opinion that going "oh someones running an event" "HAMMERS ALL CONTROVERSIAL BUTTONS" is okay

Re: [Optimumtact] - Use of admin tools to negatively impact round
yeah, i think this boils down to oranges was having a good time with citrus and a new admin and this whole event meme is a bad angle. just say that you were fucking around and you were sorry because that's what it basically was from what I heard.
Citrus said they were talking on it so I asked him to post the conversation and it went like this:
now i don't know how much citrus was joking about you doing it but i guess my point is keep the admin jokes in admin areas or SOMETHING like that! kind of reminds me where beesting and jimm was fucking around and on a joke they nuked a clockcult round, at what point does this meme stop
