ash immune.
mobs can be brought onto the station.
mobs can be mildly aggressive using pete the goat's AI.

livestock will be better than on station livestock.

current ideas;
pheonix
lays better/more eggs.
corpse eventually turns to ash and revives
can be butchered for cooked chicken
since it's feathers turn to ashes, nothing useful here.

ashen camelid
chews up vines faster? (aoe?)
can be shaved for fire retardent fur to be used with onyx fur
rideable
beast of burden?
milkable

oynxian oryx
passive, but very deadly when they attack.
drops an onyx horn, used for crafting or weaponry.
can be skinned for fire retardent cloth to be used with ashen wool

Phoenix might be pushing it into the too fantasy territory.

I know it's dumb seeing all the other stuff in lavaland but it might fit better with another name.

Just my opinion though

yeah, it popped into my head when i merged lava, fire, heat, ashes with a wild fowl of some kind.

a bird with affinity to fire and ash and lays eggs often.

I made a sprite one time for literally domesticating goliaths to ride on their backs. Amateur sprite but this is a goliath with a saddle, and a little bit of frontal protection headplate, a bit like the kind of oranate stuff they put on the heads of elephants.

- I would say that it'd be better if you could feed animals mutagen to mutate them into other animals at risk to health, aka a lot like goof-farm, for example a phoneix is a result of mutating chickens heavily & the Ash-camel(-id) is a mutated goliath or something along those lines so we dont fill lavaland full of fluff creatures.

- You'd probably need a potion (mixed out of natural plants grinded together?) to temporarily calm a goliath/animal long enough for you to feed them their favourite food and domesticate, since thats the common trope because its difficult if the goliath is hitting you alll the while.

Im my mind goliaths are big misunderstood space cows, phoneix sounds OP and annoying to fight pre-domestication.
Shouldn't this be something xenobiology or botany/agricultural department should be doing i guess? Cosmic-scientist had a similar idea a while ago. (I can't find the thread :? ) I guess lazarus & force feeding mutagen would work too.

domesticate them so you can use their tentacles for passive things.

Phoenix's would still work, just make them horrible flying lizard creatures with a biological exothermic reaction happening on patches of its skin. Phoenix's being a kind of Ironic name would be funny.

just call them "phoenixes" - they have an actual name and don't resemble a phoenix, but fire + ash + bird = they nicknamed it a phoenix

I'm going with bantam (smaller, miniature) fowls. I loved that duck on fire meme. The fowl will definitely have eternally burning fluffy head.

Some fowls like polish chickens and mallard ducks have an afro made of feathers on their head.

Yeah, just remember that miners will actually enounter these creatures in what is intended to be a PvE hostile enviroment, there's also the fact that depending on how its implemented, ghost roles could harness these creatures of burden so a reasonable gating mechanic to do so unless intentional could be required, and if your creatures don't have loot drops like the oryx, they are just going to explode into a little bit of meat/gibs and not be worth killing or particularly dragging back if they are troublesome to handle.

- Replace the vetinarian ruin into a ranch/some kind of lab, the vets start out already with a lot of tame domesticated farm animals and the tools to capture wild creatures.

- Isn't it easier to just steal the phoneix/ashbird (tiny dragon?) eggs and then use a gooffarm method of incubating them or holding onto them until they hatch?

Is this still on? I want to play a farmer-moon ghost role of Space Amish.
