I don't like most filk but I have an extremely soft spot for Bomber. It fucks ungodly, Douglas MacArthur was right.

I was about to spew forth two dozen recommendations before I realized that I don't consider half of them as "real filk." But then I got confused about what "real filk" even meant. Everyone agrees Carmen Miranda is Filk, but what about Fish's other, less space-themed work? Is Polaris Filk?
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=CVG2f ... 80XgsaWmyA
And if it counts, what about other Lovecraft themed songs? Does Dreams in the Witch House count?
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=M4zd4 ... quSSEu09v6
Or The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets?
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=5VNvU ... VK1jnhsRnO
I think I eventually decided that something with fantastical theming need not be Filk, and that typical Filk is more exemplified by a simpler feel. Most of Carmen Miranda feels ironically down to earth musically, A lot of the songs just have one instrument and vocals. Vixy and Tony, Bedlam Bards, and Ken Theriot all fit the bill nice enough on that end.
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=CKDR6 ... BCN4IJzg0M
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=E3NM0 ... AulgiluKPs
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=poV5z ... CSD6geiaiS
Filk to me is something that you would actually hear one or more people jamming out with in a convention or ren faire, so it's simpler and sometimes a little more goofy than a lot of other music. The dividing line between Filk and Pirate music of course is surprisingly small. You could make me a convincing argument that The Jolly Rogers or the Musical Blades were Filk bands:
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=TDflb ... P7jh0OZm0V
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=4QAGH ... f0AF7ieeKE
Then there lies the greatest difficulty, The Dread Crew of Oddwood. They formed at a convention, but now they have very good production values and complicated songs. They play at ren faires but also at concerts with Tyr. They're metal without any electric instruments and I love them dearly.
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=2n7NN ... o6ukggSeKX
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=gcE3y ... 8JxVc_rz6o
And then because I don't know where else to put them, have these three too:
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=53D2u ... VZgeGxf9fp
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=BEHsq ... OfCPsPUHG_
https://judgesmith1.bandcamp.com/track/ ... vvy-street
Jeff Wayne gets an honorable mention too but his production value is way too high for me to consider him filk.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have no taste in music and no idea what I'm talking about, but I like it when they make the noises and say the word "spaceship."

It has a lot of the "not quite true filk" songs warbluke was talking about too.
One of my personal favorites is "The day it fell apart" especially when medbay was just bombed
