IGN called it an 8/10 because they're stupid and their complaint was that the story was so-so but everything else was great
what the fuck
I'm not here to play a moving story if I wanted that I'd play Opus: Echo of Starsong (go play it) or Va-11 Hall-A (go play it) or something like that
I'm here to play a mech game and I want a good mech game
AC6 is a good mech game

Releases in 8h30m at the time of my posting this

Slammed through the story and I'm on New Game+. It carries the torch very very well so I'm pretty happy with the game overall. I can't recommend it to everyone though. I think a lot of people are going to be completely dumpstered by the difficulty spikes the game has with certain bosses.

I waited 10 years for a new Armored Core and it was everything I could have hoped for

Runs like a dream, makes you feel like a god when you figure things out, hectic in all the best ways

The way NG+/++ subtly changes things along the way is honestly a little unsettling in a really fun way, where you always wonder what's going to diverge from how you remember it next

Big fan of the pull of who you fight as the last boss in NG++.

The only achievement I have left to get at this point is to get all S Ranks, and I'm not sure I want to bother with that one. All in all, incredible game. Wish there was even more to it.

I find S-ranking stuff as you go is an INCREDIBLE way of guiding grinding for cash to buy more parts. Instead of staying in one "optimal" mission, you can do runs of whatever you're trying to S-rank and do a little better each time until you clinch the s-rank and buy what you need/move on to a new mission.

Yeah I definitely wish I did it that way. Instead I just did the grinding on missions I could complete in 30 seconds. Now I've got 9 missions left to S Rank and I'm sitting on 30 million.

Having now got 100% myself: Yep, complete agreement here. My only regret is that there isn't more. I think this is a game that would benefit from coop missions or something.

It would probably be hard for them to implement but it would also be amazing

Warning: Armchair dipshit opinion ahead:

I mean possibly. They have the working netcode with the PVP, and they've shown in the past that they have working networking with AI controlled mobs (Elden ring coop?) So unless something about the way ACs/bosses are built as code entities is so entirely new to the engine, it seems like it wouldn't be too bad? I could definitely forsee "mission packs" or something in an expansion that are specifically built to be tackled by 2 or 3 man teams. Split up objectives, way more enemies, bosses with mechanics, etc.
