Re: Star Wars: Empire at War
Serious nostalgic vibes here.
Then they added THE CONSORTIUM whose roster was "every unit is literally better than the equivalent unit for both empire and rebels for no reason"

Re: Star Wars: Empire at War
I hate ground battles too, Galactic Civil War mod is THE SHIT though my guys, this shit looks fine and has crazy shit, Here's one of my stories about the mod. (It's copy-pastaed from a discord so that's why there are no images that are referenced)
"The Galactic Civil War mod is amazing, let me walk you through one of my naval battles. It's the last holdout of the rebellion, and they are barricaded with the rest of their fleet and a flock of MC-30 proton torpedo craft. No standard capital ship would be able to break their line, so I dispatch the peak of my empire, an Executor-class Star Dreadnought. The Dreadnought arrives on scene and is immediately confronted with a legion of torpedo craft and admirals, with the MC-80s taking a heavy toll on my shields and opening me up for a barrage of proton-torpedos. They break my barriers and immediately reduce my shield generators to slag. As my craft's healthbar ticks down, the turbolasers take out a few of the torpedo craft, roughly cutting down 7 of the 25 total frigates. The healthbar drops to zero, but all is not lost. The Executor enters a unique "Phase 2". With the shield generators disabled power is re-routed to the Concussion-Missile system. about 10 more frigates and the Rebel Leader's MC-80 (Pictured Above) are reduced to dust before they are able to disable the concussion missle hardpoints. With the hardpoints gone and the Executor's health reduced to naught once more, it enters "Phase 3". With all other armaments destroyed, all of the ship's power is rerouted to the Turbolaser batteries (Pictured Above), which are now targetable and have reduced accuracy, but a much higher fire-rate. This is able to mop up a few more of the torpedo craft and 2 other MC-80s, but with constant fire from the Rebels' large starbase, the ship enter's its last stand. "Phase 4" sees all of the hangars brought to bear, with no other weaponry left, as a swarm of TIE Fighters, Interceptors, and Bombers are released from the burning hulk. That is not all, as the ship sends out a distress call, bringing ships from other nearby systems into the fight. With 2 Imperial ll class crafts entering orbit, along with Victory class frigates and more jumping into the fight.
This action allows for the Rebel's remaining craft and starbase to be rendered to debris, as the Executor returns to Kuat to see extensive repairs to the damage.
Goddamn this mod is spectacular"

Re: Star Wars: Empire at War
I prefer my interstellar conflict games to be based around one spunky protagonist with an energy sword, laser gun and a destiny to fulfill and of the three of these I have played none have been good which is not unlike my experience with the films

Re: Star Wars: Empire at War
Empire at War has some of the best mods a man can find. Thrawns Revenge, Galactic Civil War Remake, And more dated stuff like Republic at War. It's all freakin swank, all other starwars games suck total ass compared to it!

Re: Star Wars: Empire at War
I always thought EAW mods were awful simply by the virtue that it made the adddition of the Consortium look like a well balanced third faction.
"Okay the empire needs 4 different SSDs that can all be deployed together as well as the death star for a total of 2 super lasers with the eclipse".
