Star Wars: Battlefront
I went back 4 pages and couldn't find a thread on it so here it is.
Next month EA is supposedly releasing a "full" edition for 40$ USD. Contains all maps/DLCs/etc. Another one of EA's way to get more money out of it I guess.
ALSO If any of your shits use overcharge, Jetpack and bacta tanks you're dead to me.

I actually liked EA's battlefront, the game was aesthetically really good and I thought the shooting gameplay and heroes vs villains mode was really fun. At least enough to get 100 hours out of it but I'm not sure about how this one will turn out who knows.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
The original Battlefronts were literally taking Battlefield and making it into Star Wars. The problem is EA's iteration of Battlefront is actually nothing really like any Battlefield and thus the original Battlefronts. Why reinvent the wheel from what they already do well enough? I can only suspect they don't want another Battlefield competing with their actual Battlefield series yet I don't see it being that a huge issue. Right now EA Battlefront 1 is subpar not following the Battlefield formula that the previous had followed, being as the card system is just bad and feels too much like some subpar CoD rip-off in some ways. Additionally, balance is really off between factions as Rebels can easily shit on Empire due to their shit being all air based with no real counters besides having TIE's which can either be hit or miss with pilot skill. Additionally, Empire can get an AT-ST that immediately gets ass blasted by 25 Ion shots with no real defense as they just stick out with everyone generally carrying an ion card in Walker Assault anywho.MrEousTranger wrote:It should be Star Wars: BattlefieldTakeguru wrote:I'm sure the game itself is fine, the problem is that it's using the Battlefront name like it's a Battlefront game

They really should just go back to being like Battlefield and having actual classes as well with more classic battlefield vehicle usage.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
Original battlefront was nothing like battlefield, unless the new battlefields are drastically different than the old ones in which case sue me.
Battlefront was capture points or kill all enemies to win.
It wasn't well made, but god damn if that wasn't all I spent my time playing.
Wait that reminds me Does anyone else remember playing a star wars game called bounty hunter? That game was so fun, really challenging sometimes and able to pick up bounties while progressing through the story which I can't remember being good or not but I loved it as a kid.
So many fun lines to.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
Pandemic Studio's Battlefront pretty much is Battlefield 1942, but set as Star Wars with some differences in gameplay/classes to make it not a complete clone. For example here's a BF42-Battlefront comparison in classes: Infantry=Assault, Anti-Tank=Heavy Weapons, Pilot=Engineer, and Sniper=Scout. Only key difference between the two in classes was was the fifth "unique" class that factions had like Darktroopers, Jet Troopers, Droidekas, and Wookiee.MrEousTranger wrote:Original battlefront was nothing like battlefield, unless the new battlefields are drastically different than the old ones in which case sue me.

Also, you literally just described Conquest type game-mode that Battlefield pretty much still uses no matter what. You capture points, the enemy bleeds tickets based on points held(more a team holds the faster the enemy bleeds) in addition to respawns that cost a ticket. Vehicles were placed at a 'main' spawnpoint for players to use.
Many of reviews pretty much compared it to Battlefield 1942. It was really the first clone of a Battlefield game...which isn't a bad or negative thing as the game was really good in it's own merits. The sequel was even better with what it brought to make it standout further, but it still followed the formula of a Battlefield like game. So, my point still stands the current iteration is less for not following a Battlefield formula.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
The Line was a "deconstruction" of military shooters. Which means that the game railroaded you into doing horrible things, and then kept blaming you for things that the protagonist does, with such clever commentary as "Do you feel like a hero yet?" or "How many americans have you killed today" messages on your loading screens. It gets better, when you learn that devs included a way for you to avoid all of this - it includes not playing the game. Yes, they are on the record saying this.Did it actually do this?

What, do you expect them to just say "oh well i guess if you don't want to do bad stuff in the game and ignore the plot and fact that you're playing as an existing character you can do that"
I genuinely don't follow this criticism

Never said how many classes just that they will be included, hopefully the info is credible.
I've also heard that ea might be going back on these claims that there will be no premium dlc but I really hope the dlc is only visual stuff to not seperate the playerbase.
And with no seasons pass I'm worried that I'de have to buy all dlc separately.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
Spec ops was a great thought provoking game what kinda bullshit are you spouting here.
You're not "railroaded" you're a soldier following orders. These orders are super fucking illegal but you are convinced throughout most of the game that it is the correct thing right up until the ending.
Here's the thing though, this shit happens all the time in real life. How many atrocities could've been prevented if everyone had just stopped and said "Actually this is fucking ethically wrong and we should probably stop doing this shit to other human beings." You think the Nazi top brass would've actually went out and committed the genocide all by themselves? It's both a social commentary on games themselves but also how humans act when they're in groups. Take this classic economics thought experiment, the ultimatum game:
You have two people and $100 dollars. You tell one person that he can split this 100 dollars however he wants, but he has to give the other person some. He can evenly split it or he can unevenly split it in favour of himself. The other person is asked if what he has been given to him is acceptable, if he says yes, they both keep the money, if he says no, they both don't get anything. Economists say that the second person should always say yes. You're always going to get money regardless of what happens, but in reality what happens in small groups is that usually it's split 50/50, and offers below 30% are usually rejected. Humans draw their conclusions based on subjective experiences and the subjective experience is that if you say yes to whatever they tell you you're a goddamn idiot and a gullible sucker. Suckers didn't live very long in prehistoric times.
This breaks down in extremely large groups however. If you had 100 billion dollars and a million people to share it between what you would probably see happen is two ruling elites forms and that ruling elites offers sticks and carrots to their populous whilst keeping majority of their money for themselves, whilst the populous eats that shit up happily. How come they reject the ultimatum deal when it's below 30% but here they happily accept 0%? Once again, humans in an extremely large group, a society, happily lap up shit that they would've gone rejected without a second thought if they were in a much smaller group. Frederick the Great was one of the most draconian rulers ever, he made other rulers of the time look like democratic visionaries. He worked his soldiers to near robotic discipline and any weakness was punished. He once said to one of his Generals as he was watching the men drill "How these men could easily overcome us if they wanted to, for we are less than 100 strong and they are 80,000 strong, yet when we walk past them they quaver in their boots and dare not look upon us.".
That is what Spec Ops The Line explores. All of the people who played Spec Ops could have just said "Actually what I'm doing here is horrendous and horrible and I'm going to stop playing now." and they could've shut off the game and never played it again. But they didn't, because they wanted to see "the end". The end justifies the means for majority of people, no matter how horrific the means are. They made the game specifically so that you WANTED to find Conrad and kill the person who had forced you to commit so many atrocities in the name of good, but in the end, Conrad, just like your justifications were wind and ghosts. You may try and argue that this is simply you playing a game and this doesn't mean you're ever going to be corralled into doing horrible things if your country ever goes to war. Maybe you're right, but history has shown that just like in Spec Ops The Line, the narrative is going to make you seem like you're doing the right thing and you're not going to argue until it's far too late.

my guess is they'll be either hilariously bad or reasonable powered but people get pissed because it was a preorder ulock that killed them
actual my real prediction is they'll be unlockable somehow

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
Now that I have officially purchased the first EA game I will leave my opinion here:
There are a total of 6 worlds, what in the evolutionary fuck were they thinking?
Animations good
Sound is great
Visuals tears of joy
Controls fine *HOW THE FCUK DO I COMBAT ROLL
Voice acting goodish
Story HAHAHAHA JK THERES NOT ONE FUCK YOU
Took me 3 minutes to load tutorial Y?
took 4 minutes to find a game
Everyone is darktrooper
Heavy gun insta killing everything
Me just a generic strom trooper
Got shot in the head by a jetpacking rebel scum with a heavy cannon.
My nostalgia is sitting inside my head trying to kill itself
Nothing like the old one
Anger
I feel sad inside I felt buyers remorse when I loaded up the first match.
The second one looks good
Maybe just wishful thinking

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront
People talk about nostalgia and the original two games not being good but i go back to Battlefront 2 and replay the campaign every once in a while and it is still fucking fun.
Once you have most of the higher tier upgrades unlocked permanently (elite rifle and the like) do an ironman campaign playthrough on elite difficulty where you start the level over any time you die and use no jedi heroes. Shit is fun as fuck, although i nearly ragequit on Kashykk
