Ore Redemption Machine: How to stop thefts by deconning it
I'm noticing a trend of total asshole clowns deconstructing the machine with screwdriver and a crowbar to steal diamond or plasma to be griefing assholes. It's getting annoying as shit

Put it behind a windoor "delivery area" and have a console on the wall that actually spawns the items.

I guess then there's no further point in keeping the ore redemption circuit board around?

A way to mitigate the griefing would be to have the crowbar deconstruction step take time.

Give caro a button that electrifies the machine, shocking anyone trying to steal it

A wall terminal linked to the machine that will let you eject materials. Machine is then placed fully inside Cargo and the minerals will be carried out on a belt.

Decon it yourself then move it to mining. Ergo put it in a retarded place anyway.

Easiest solution tends to be the best.

A reinforced windoor, please, so bashing it down takes a little longer.

It should be placed in cargo so the cargo techs can ship the materials out. Science having direct access to it is dumb. Props to the clown for being creative.

The entire reason why the machine exists was to give Science direct, and easy, access to minerals.ThatSlyFox wrote:It should be placed in cargo so the cargo techs can ship the materials out. Science having direct access to it is dumb. Props to the clown for being creative.
I think the simplest solution is the best, placing a windoor infront of the machine should do the trick.

Re: Ore Redemption Machine: How to stop thefts by deconning
It ain't direct and easy for science they walk across the entire station to get to it almost.
Mailing it to them sending a mule with it having the miner deliver it in person all more convenient for the scientist.

Re: Ore Redemption Machine: How to stop thefts by deconning
that's implying cargo is being helpful - they aren't always, and they don't always even exist.
With the current system, most miners process the ore and bring it to science themselves, but the scientists (and other jobs that have access) can still access it under their own power, instead of being purely reliant on others just to get the already mined minerals.

It's in cargo to entice scientists out of their doom bunker before they're packing enough heat to cause a shuttle call.Incomptinence wrote:It ain't direct and easy for science they walk across the entire station to get to it almost.

If the mean streets are dangerous enough for that to matter then the shuttle has a high probability of already being called.

Re: Ore Redemption Machine: How to stop thefts by deconning
Wouldn't it be neat if we could incorporate the usage of the requests console on the wall? Have the console link directly to cargo, science places an order. If cargonia approves the order, the redemption machine automatically spits out the smelted materials in a wrapped crate with a destination tag set for the department that requested it. Conveyor belt to take it to disposals to be mailed out.

Cargo has no access to the ore redemption machine. So don't blame us cargonians for not delivering ore to science, or giving two fucks that someone is stealing the ore. Why the hell is scientists coming to our department and using our things anyway? Because they need the stuff? No, thats our job.
Frankly I wouldn't mind delivering the swag to science as a cargonian, personally if I have to because it will give me an excuse to ask/extort/blackmail the goods from them.
If you really want to fix the problem, give us cargonians access to the redemption machine.
