I sort of think this is a decision admins should make. If they feel the junk makes their decision making harder, then sure, otherwise I don't think players' opinion on this matters much.

Irc becomes an incoherent mess when there are 20 people talking at the same time. People are also way more polite and understanding in voice. We did try irc for one of the coderbus roundt'ables. It failed utterly.

Personally I don't think the gold version is worth the extra cost. I bought it during the steam sale at 25% off, because I like having it consolidated there. You have to register it on uplay the first time, after this you can run it on steam and it simply starts, the uplay layer is invisible on star...

Novice coders start by reading code, not by writing, so needing to understand ..() is a requirement from day one. If ". = val" replaced "return val" everywhere, then understanding ". = val" would become a day one requirement aswell. If what Remie says is true, then this...

I don't mean this to sound rude, but some of the people who were young enough to work when we were growing up, are now getting old, meaning they will start to die with ever higher frequency. I know that there is a bit of an adjustment period when people start to realize that whoever was relevant to ...

Re: apply bans for being dickweeds to new players

Without new players, soon, there will be no players to play with. Removing some toxic players is usually necessary, the hard part is realizing that they've become toxic if they were once neat people and only slowly degraded. All in all, in a community the size of TGS, no one person is necessary. Any...

As ever, my concern is with the novice coder. Those of you who are already familiar with SS13 code would have no problem adapting, but it would mean that making those very first steps into SS13 coding would be just a bit much more confusing for the novice coder. Again, explaining ..() already takes ...

Assuming I'm understanding the amount of difference it makes to use the dot variable over the return statement+variable declaration, I'd still opt for variable declaration + return. What if we make Basil a permadeath server - one death allowed per IP/ComputerID/Ckey. Once you die, you get banned from the server. Every 2 weeks, the bans are cleared and the server resets. There is no administrative presence on the server - meaning literally nobody has admin rights.

The jar sealing process is basically putting whatever you want to preserve into a jar, filling the jar with very hot vinegar (there's probably more stuff in there) up to the very edge of the jar, and then sealing it.
